Brooks Brown in his MLB debut.

Quite a few tidbits slipped through the cracks this week, so let's gobble them all up right quick before closing out the week.

Georgia men's hoops is finalizing their schedule for the upcoming season.  Norfolk State will come to town January 3rd, with a team returning 7 players (but not Kyle O'Quinn and the crew that upset a 2nd seeded Missouri in the NCAA Tournament a few years ago).  Oh, and we got a Turtle!

On the diamond, Brooks Brown, a first round pick way back in 2006, has been working hard in the minors and finally made his big league debut for the Rockies.  The Statesboro native has pitched in a pair of games so gar, going a total of 2 innings, allowing one hit, no runs, and striking out 3.  Also of note, former Diamond Dawg slugger and 1B Rich Poythress is a little closer to home with the CSRA product now in the Atlanta Braves organization at AA Mississippi.

Men's and women's tennis were honored for excelling in the class room.  And with football season coming ever closer, the award watch lists are coming out and lots of Dawgs are on them.  Tyler Dawgden over at the Georgia Sports Blog has your media days attendee list, and it somewhat surprisingly doesn't include Hutson Mason but does have Chris Conley.  And the Senator pokes a little fun at Chip Towers and the AJC making a big deal out of a media guide depth chart that is pretty much what it always is, the post spring depth chart.
