This past weekend in Jacksonville, Florida was the NCAA East Preliminaries where 100s of college athletes competed for a chance to keep competing in Eugene, Oregon next week. The University of Oregon campus will host the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 11th through the 14, and almost two dozen from the University of Georgia will be competing.
On Friday, we told you about the first seven to qualify for the NCAAs. Well, that afternoon saw another seven qualify which included East Prelim winners in the men's hammer throw (freshman Alex Poursanidis), women's 800 meters (senior Megan Malasarte), and women's high jump (sophomore Leontia Kallenou, who won the SEC and NCAA Indoor titles in this event earlier this spring, and the SEC Outdoor title clearing 6'3 1/2" back in May). Saturday's action saw a pair of relay teams and another Dawg punch their ticket to the Pacific Northwest.
