Saturday Soccer/Golf/College World Series/Etc. Open Thread.

Paul Gilham

It's the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, and in Georgia it's hotter than Steve Spurrier being asked about the 1966 World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. I'd recommend staying inside to enjoy any of a plethora of sporting options available for your viewing pleasure. Clearly the World Cup is going on all the do-da day. There's the College World Series still underway in Omaha, and professional golf of various stripes.

As usual feel free to talk about all of them or none. For example, you could talk about who's crazier: longtime Georgia high school football coach Brad Waggoner, who wrote Paul Johnson weekly letters for five years asking for a job, or Paul Johnson for hiring him. Admittedly, doing the same thing over and over again without much success is kind of a cultural hallmark of Georgia Tech football. Kudos to Waggoner. Anyone banging that long and hard on the front door of a burning building deserves to be let in and handed a fire extinguisher. Have fun, play nice, and . . .

Go 'Dawgs!!!
