White County High School's Spencer Adams signs with the White Sox

Scott Stricklin lost an arm this week.  No, not literally (1), but literally (2) in the form of White County's Spencer Adams who opted to sign with the Chicago White Sox instead of enrolling in Athens after signing a LOI with the Dawgs.

Adams was taken in the second round, 44th overall, by the South Side Sox last week during the MLB draft.  He signs with a bonus of over $1,280,000, which is "overslot" but not unexpected to pry a highly rated prep prospect from a college commitment these days.  A similar amount will likely be needed for the San Diego Padres to haul in the only other highly drafted current or hopeful future Diamond Dawg last week of Gainesville OF Michael Gettys, but it is expected that the Padres will come to an agreement with Gettys before the mid-July deadline.
