Georgia was awarded a No. 2 seed in the postseason NIT and will host Vermont on Wednesday at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs are one of four SEC teams to make the field along with Missouri, Arkansas and LSU.
Vermont won the America East's regular season title finishing with a 22-10 record and were 15-1 in the conference. They were upset by Albany in the conference tournament. The Catamounts suffered a 91-90 loss to Duke at Cameron earlier this season. They are coached by John Becker who is in his third season at the school where he has amassed a 67-34 record.
Georgia finished tied for second with Kentucky during the SEC's regular season before falling to the Wildcats in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Missouri also landed a No. 2 seed and will host Davidson in first round play. Arkansas is a three seed and will host Indiana State while LSU must go on the road as the five seed to San Francisco. Georgia State landed a six seed in the tournament and will travel to Clemson.
The winner of the Georgia-Vermont matchup will advance to play either Louisiana Tech or Iona.
