Georgia freshmen Nick Chubb, Jeb Blazevich and Lorenzo Carter were recognized today as members of the SEC All-Freshman team. LSU led all conference members with four selections, while the 'Dawgs, Alabama, and Tennessee each placed three on the list.
While the Red and Black didn't field a lot of freshmen compared to past years, those who have played have by and large been solid contributors. Chubb obviously was not only the top freshman back in the conference, he was also the offensive freshman of the year and a first team All-SEC selection. Blazevich supplanted senior Jay Rome to take over the starting tight end spot mid-season and ended up with 16 catches for 256 yards and 2 scores. Carter also wrangled additional time from veteran Leonard Floyd as the season wore on, totaling 33 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Add in Sony Michel, Isaiah Wynn, Dyshon Sims, Malkom Parrish and Dominick Sanders, and the 'Dawgs saw eight freshmen spend significant time on the two deep this season.
