Georgia Overview

On Friday, the Missouri Tigers defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks, ending the Dawgs’ hopes of making a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship.

The next day, the Dawgs fell to Georgia Tech 30-24 in overtime in one of the weirdest games I’ve ever witnessed.  Two goal line fumbles by freshmen running backs prevented Georgia from backing the Yellow Jackets into a corner early, and a poorly executed squib kick allowed Tech to get in range to nail a 53-yard field goal to send the game to overtime.

Georgia Tech ran the ball successfully against Georgia, but UGA had every opportunity to win that game and just couldn’t do it.  So Tech now has two victories in the past 14 years, and man, they aren’t letting anyone forget they took 2014’s version of the game.

This rivalry had been put on the backburner for many Georgia fans due to UGA’s recent success.  Not anymore.  Let’s hope the young Dawg players, and us fans, don’t forget Tech’s jubilation, the fan’s trash talk, the Hedges that were picked, or the snow angels on the G that were made after the game.  Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate is back.

Movers

Fell Out: #19 Marshall, #21 Colorado State, #22 Minnesota

Newcomers: #23 LSU, #24 Utah, #25 Nebraska

Overrated

#14 Missouri.  Congrats on winning the SEC East and going 10-2.  But the Tigers will get stomped by Alabama in Atlanta.

Underrated

#13 Ole Miss.  Mississippi had a great season that included wins over the top two SEC teams in Alabama and Mississippi State.  Thought they could have been a couple of slots higher.

This Week’s Top 25 Matchups

#8 Arizona vs. #3 Oregon

#1 Alabama vs. #14 Missouri

#9 Kansas State vs. #5 Baylor

#2 Florida State vs. #12 Georgia Tech

#11 Wisconsin vs. #6 Ohio State

Upset Alert

Last week, I had Stanford over UCLA, which came to fruition.

This week, I’m taking Wisconsin over Ohio State.  I think Melvin Gordon goes off, and the loss of JT Barrett will be too much to overcome.
