You guys know the drill. We're bad at picking games against the spread (7-18-1), and there's really only one conference game that means anything since Tennessee couldn't get their act together. Arkansas (-2) at No. 20 Missouri (Friday, 2:30 p.m. EST) is the obvious SEC Game of Interest.
The pick: Hogs -2
Why you should care: Atlanta is lovely in early December. An Arkansas victory guarantees that our boys will get to spend the first Saturday in December in the City Too Busy to Hate.
Rationale: There's definitely some homerism happening here, but it's not unfounded. This game opened as a pick-em, and the line has slowly moved in Arkansas's favor. Why is Vegas favoring a barely-bowl-eligible Arkansas squad against the SEC East division leader? You know exactly why if you've watched any Razorback football this season (other than our easy 45-32 victory last month). They're a big, physical team with a stout defense and a punishing running game. They're basically us with fewer highly touted recruits. And you might recall how effective we were against Mizzou: our defense pitched a shut-out, Douglas and Chubb combined for 239 yards and 2 TDs on 51 carries. We shouldn't expect the same type of domination this weekend, but, frankly, it wouldn't be a total surprise if it happened. #GoHawgs!
Other picks: Mississippi State laying 2 points on the road against a reeling Ole Miss team who don't have their best player seems like a steal. While an intrepid Redditor reminded us that 10 years ago an unranked Florida team with a lame duck head coach upset #10 FSU at home, we feel pretty confident that this year's Florida team already got their miraculous victory. (Why must we be everyone's signature win???) FSU will win by a bunch.
Go Dawgs! Beat Tech! We know you will.
