Troy Trojans At Georgia Bulldogs Basketball Preview.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The 1-1 Georgia Bulldogs return to action at 7:00 this evening in the friendly confines of Stegeman Coliseum as they host Phil Cunningham's Troy Trojans. The game will be televised live on the SEC Network, and broadcast on radio across the Bulldog Radio Network.

Troy was 11-20 in Cunningham's first season and we don't really know what they have to offer in this, his sophomore campaign. Troy tuned up by beating Brewton-Parker, then losing by only 10 at Andy Kennedy's Ole Miss squad. The first doesn't really tell me anything. The second tells me this team may be a little dangerous, especially if the 'Dawgs get off to a slow start. They're led by senior forward Kevin Thomas, who's averaging 12.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. Also starting guard Kelton Ford hails from Horse Cave, Kentucky. Which wouldn't sound like a real place if I hadn't passed the signs for Big Bone Lick State Park while driving through the Bluegrass State.

Georgia likewise could be any number of things this year, though the first two games of the season didn't tell us which is more likely. After getting off to a sluggish start from which they never recovered against Georgia Tech, the 'Dawgs looked pretty darned good Tuesday night against visiting Stony Brook behind double digit scoring from five separate Fox Hounds. That sort of balanced effort bodes well moving forward. So let's see if the Dawgs can get above the .500 mark.
