Stony Brook At Georgia Preview/Open Comment Thread.

Paul Abell-USA TODAY Sports

The Matchup: Stony Brook (1-0) at Georgia (0-1).

Time/How to find it: Tipoff is at 7:00 eastern with the TV broadcast on the SEC Network. You can listen live on the Bulldog Sports Network.

The Stony Brook Seawolves* travel to Athens tonight for a Preseason NIT showdown following a season opening 57-56 victory over Columbia. "Season opening victory" is of course a phrase that we cannot use in connection with the Georgia Bulldogs, who once again managed to lose to a Georgia Tech squad that probably isn't as good as they were made to look, especially in the first half.

Stony Brook is led by 6'8 forward Jameel Warney, who posted 12 points and 15 rebounds against Columbia, and fellow junior front court player Rayshaun McGrew (14 points, 8 boards versus Columbia). The Seawolves are coming off a 23-10 season which saw them earn a berth in the CBI, and they return a lot from that squad. In short, this is the type of not a cupcake/not a conference foe game in which Georgia slipped up, stumbled, or otherwise underwhelmed last season. An optimal result would involve the 'Dawgs taking control early at home in front of a crowd that should be hugging the court and making some noise. We'll be back this evening with the Roundball Wrap Up, until then . . .

Go 'Dawgs!!!

* I have no idea what a Seawolf is, but it sounds vaguely terrifying.
