As has been previously mentioned, the Junkyard Dawgs 2014 edition shut out the Missouri Tigers, a top 25 team, on the road (in the Good Columbia.) Today's outing marked the first time in the history of Georgia Football that the Classic City Canines shutout a ranked opponent at their house. As if to make a statement about who they are, the final score was 34-0. 34, Herschel Walker's number. 3 & 4 the jersey numbers of Gurley & Marshell. It is therefore my honor and my privilege to once again bring to you, my personal favorite of the regular feature posts here at Dawg Sports, the Mark Richt Victory Watch*.
Mark Richt has now secured his 131st career win, in only 177 total games as the head man in charge between the hedges. Coach Richt currently boasts a 131-46 record and a .740 winning percentage. At the identical juncture in their careers, Coach Wally Butts was 111-58-8 (.627) following a loss to Holy Cross in 1954 and Vince Dooley was 115-54-6 (.657) following a 31-10 victory in the Music City in 1979.
Mark Richt remains statistically head and shoulders above his historical coevals at the same point in their respective careers.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and may you enjoy sweet dreams of Gurley & whichever schadenfreude(s) your little heart desires. Until later . . .
Go 'Dawgs!!!
*Let's face it, there are only two things we really care about: OMG WE SHUT OUT MIZZOU WITHOUT GURLEY and #FreeGurley, not necessarily in that order.
