Cotton/Orange Bowl Open Comment Thread: Two Bowls Enter, One Bowl Leaves.

Stacy Revere

It's Friday night and the heart of BCS bowl season, featuring not one but two interesting contests. At 8 p.m. on Fox the Cotton Bowl will pair Missouri against Oklahoma State in a game in which you should probably have taken the over. It's also a match up of former Big XII conference-mates, and a rivalry that's actually been played 45 times. It will be interesting to see if Missouri has gotten over the torching they took from Auburn in the Georgia Dome.

I suspect Missouri will have a bit of a chip on their shoulders after that one. I also suspect that Oklahoma State will struggle to contain all the weapons that Missouri has across the offense. Not to mention the difficulty pass rusher Michael Sam, who I don't think they'll have much of an answer for. Of course, I also thought Bama would handle Oklahoma, so what do I know? MaconDawg's prediction sure to be wrong: Mizzou 48, Okie St. 40.

And at 8:30 on ESPN the Orange Bowl will feature a rematch of the "Punch Bowl" between Clemson and Ohio State. No, I don't think Urban Meyer will reprise Woody Hayes's punching of a Clemson player. No, I wouldn't totally rule out Steve Spurrier emerging from the crowd to pimp-slap Dabo Swinney because, well, that's just what he does.

Yes, I do think that Ohio State will struggle mightily to contain Sammy Watkins and the rest of the Tiger offense, especially without injured standout defensive back Bradley Roby. It's cool. The hype after the Tigers win this one will make it just that much more special when we avenge this season's 3 point road loss back within the welcoming confines of Sanford Stadium next August 30th. Yes, I'm predicting that happens. MaconDawg's prediction sure to be wrong: Clemson 38, Urban's School for Top 1 Percenters 34. Everybody have a great time, and make all the Urban Meyer jokes you want. Until later . . .
