Georgia looks to bounce back from Tuesday's loss against Florida when they take on Arkansas Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs struggled mightily against the Gators' pressure and that could be a bad omen going into a game against Mike Anderson's Razorbacks.
Georgia began conference play 2-0 before Tuesday's setback and Charles Mann was a big reason why. Mann was named SEC Player of the Week for his efforts in averaging over 20 points and 6.5 rebounds per game during those two wins. He was essentially a non-factor against Florida finishing with eight points and five turnovers in the loss.
Another reason for the Bulldogs' strong start was the improvement of their play on the interior. Marcus Thornton anchored the defense at the hoop and continues to lead Georgia's charge on the boards. Mark Fox's club is undefeated this season when it wins the rebounding battle. They will need another solid performance on Saturday.
Arkansas is the highest scoring team in the SEC 84.7 points thanks to their elevated pace and relentless pressure defense. Georgia will have to do a better job taking care of the basketball. They turned the ball over 15 times against the Gators with most of those coming in a first half 20-4 run that allowed Florida to take control of the game.
The Razorbacks come into the game at 1-2 in the SEC. They had a disappointing 69-53 loss to Texas A&M to open conference play but have since went nose-to-nose with the conference's elite. They squandered a late lead in an 84-82 overtime loss to Florida at home and then bounced back to defeat Kentucky 87-85 also in overtime. They come in looking poised and ready and Anderson in many ways will be looking to avoid a letdown against the Dogs.
