SEC Game of Interest (Week 1)

Last year we learned that picking games against the spread is really, really hard. This year we're going to change it up a little bit. And even though we're changing the name of the piece, please Don't Bet On It!

TCU QB Casey Pachall could make a name for himself this week.

IT'S GAME WEEK, YOU GUYS! I feel like we've been waiting forever, and now that it's here, it doesn't even seem real. Last year I took over the Don't Bet On It! column and found out I'm really bad at picking games against the spread. Like, so bad that you actually would have done better flipping a coin than using my picks. So this season I'm going to try to keep it simple and just choose one game at a time. Let me know what you think in the comments.

This week's SEC game of interest is No. 12 LSU v. No. 20 TCU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Pick: LSU (-4)

Why you should care: The Dawgs play the Bayou Bengals in Athens on September 28th.

LSU is going to win this game. That's not going to surprise anyone. What makes this game interesting is seeing how well Zach Mettenberger does against TCU's fearsome secondary after an offseason under Cam Cameron's tutelage. On the other side of the ball, we'll get to see how LSU's young defense handles returning Horned Frog starters QB Casey Pachall and RB Waymon James, who each missed part of last season but are expected to produce some fireworks this year. I expect that this game will be close well into the second half but that LSU's superior depth on the lines will seal the win at the end.

Honorable Mention: Kentucky v. Western Kentucky - NEVER FORGET
