Georgia OL Austin Long is calling it a career

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

According to multiple media reports, senior offensive lineman Austin Long is finished with his football career in Athens.  Long had toiled as a reserve for the past 3 seasons, and had yet to participate in fall camp due to unspecified academic reasons.

Long had been a valuable part of Georgia's second unit up front, but the recent return of Kolton Houston to the mix, as well as the reportedly improved play of junior Watts Dantzler, means the departure should have a minimal impact on the field.  In addition to Houston and Dantzler, Georgia still has John Theus, Dallas Lee, Chris Burnette, Kenarious Gates, Xzavier Ward, and Mark Beard competing at the LT, LG, RG, and RT positions the Memphis native had been backing up.  Long's younger brother, Hunter Long, is also still among those backing up Lee, Burnette, and David Andrews on the interior of the Bulldawg OL.

Thank you and good luck as you move on to the next phase of your life Austin.
