So, how was your weekend? Better than it was for some Dawgs I'd assume, but not as bad as it was for others.
Harris English won his first PGA Tour event, taking home the St Jude Classic in Memphis shooting a 12-under 268 to edge out Phil Mickleson and others (thanks esquire). He is the second former Dawg golfer to win a PGA Tour even this year, along with former teammate Russell Henley who won the Sony Open back in January.
It was a good weekend all around for the Golf Dawgs (#CountryClubU), as mentioned in the above link, rising junior Nicholas Reach won a rain shortened Palmetto Amatuer in Aiken, SC.
Kyle Farmer went in the 8th round of the weekend's MLB draft to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the SS will likely play C for the Dodgers once he signs. Curt Powell is about to become a Detroit Tiger, while Patrick Boling has to decide if he wants to be a Washington National or a Dawg for one more year. Meanwhile, 7 signees were drafted, although most are expected to make it to Athens.
While we're on recruiting, Georgia landed two players from Mark Richt's camp. Jake Edwards is a 6'4, 270 pound OL out of Heard County who has impressed the staff for a while and begun to fill out his frame. Gilbert Johnson is a 6'4 WR out of Miami earned an offer with his performance at camp, and immediately accepted it.
John Atkins was arrested under circumstances so absurd, they could only come from Athens. You gotta be careful when Living While Georgia, because that will get you in trouble with the law apparently. Thankfully, Richt understands the nature of the offense and Atkins will not be suspended. It's so ridiculous they have to tell people you are being paranoid, and they aren't really out to get you.
