Will This Morning's Most Important Hat Ceremony Produce a National Signing Day Surprise?

All right, National Signing Day is about to get underway in earnest, as Matthew Thomas, Laremy Tunsil, and Montravius Adams all are scheduled to make announcements in the next hour. First, though, we must turn our attention to National Signing Day’s most important hat ceremony, which all fans of the Georgia Bulldogs have been anxiously awaiting since this morning’s exclusive video was posted here at Dawg Sports. Please join me for the moment of truth:

Well, that was a bit of a Signing Day surprise, wasn’t it? Scout.com predicted I would pick the white Nike “Dawgs” cap with the red bill. Rivals.com projected that my decision would come down to the red 1992 “retro” cap or the tan 2005 SEC championship hat. ESPN rated the grey lid as the frontrunner, but deemed the white Chance Veazey cap a leading darkhorse contender. Who saw the basic red hat winning out in the end?

Let that be a lesson to you, Bulldog Nation. National Signing Day always has its surprises, but, at the end of the day, you want the kids who want to be ‘Dawgs. Let’s face the rest of the day in that spirit.

(By the way, my nine-year-old son was the cameraman for these videos, and I let him choose which cap I picked. Just in case you were wondering.)

Go ‘Dawgs!
