Floyd, who was teammates with John Atkins at Hargrave last season, will have to spend the full year at the Virginia military academy getting his academics in order. But the 6'6 athlete could see the field in a big way next season.
Finding video on the former Dodge County standout isn't easy, but there's bits and pieces floating around (none linkable unfortunately). What you see on film though is a big, athletic player with loads of skill. Expected to play OLB, Floyd played both ways in high school, and was seen by some as a possible TE. His athleticism and hands are that good.
But his best attributes are getting after the QB. Floyd needs to put on a little weight, but don't be surprised if he competes for the OLB job vacated by Jarvis Jones opposite Jordan Jenkins. His technique obviously is an area for improvement, but the physical tools are something you just can't teach. After a year at Hargrave facing future major conference OL every day in practice, he should be ready to step in and provide depth. As the year goes on, he should see his role gradually increase, similar to what we saw out of Jenkins last year.
