In a victory that was never in doubt until the beginning of the 3rd quarter, Mark Richt added another chapter to the Dawg Dynasty he's built since 2001 with a tough, emotional 23 - 20 win over the Florida Gators in front of 92,000 (minus a few empty "home team" seats) at EverBank Field in Jacksonville and broadcast to a nationally televised audience.
On Saturday, Mark Richt tallied his 123rd career win, moving him to within 78 victories of tying Vince Dooley for the all-time win record at Georgia. Coach Richt currently boasts a 123-43 record and a .741 winning percentage after 166 games. At the identical juncture in their careers, Coach Wally Butts was 106-53-7 (.6638) following a 14-7 victory over Clemson in 1954, and Vince Dooley was 111-50-5 (.668) following a 24-22 win over Florida (yes, those same Gators) in 1978.
Georgia now leads the All-Time series with Florida 50-40-8. Saturday's victory over the Gators marked the first 3-game winning streak in the series since 1987 (Georgia 23 - Florida 10), 1988 (Georgia 26 - Florida 3), and 1989 (Georgia 17 - Florida 10). Winning two-in-a-row against the Gators is a trend. Three-in-a-row...why, that's a streak! We'll just keep that Okefenokee Oar another year, thank you...
There is still much to play for.
<h3>Go Dawgs!</h3>
