Early Afternoon General College Football Game Day Open Comment Thread

New, 296 comments

According to RedCrake’s handy printable color-coded TV schedule, there are a handful of noteworthy games going on this afternoon, including a once and future (but not current) conference game between Pitt and VPI, a potential letdown game for Louisiana-Monroe against an Auburn team the Warhawks may be tempted to overlook, a game against Southern Methodist that Texas A&M shrewdly scheduled as a tune-up game to prepare for the serial NCAA violators of the SEC West, an Alabama-Arkansas game in which the defense of Kent State alum Nick Saban may leave four Razorbacks dead in the Ozarks, an in-state showdown between Kentucky and Western Kentucky that the Wildcats actually may win, a re-enactment of the 1966 cowardly classic between Michigan State and Notre Dame, a trip to Oxford by the Longhorns that will leave the Ole Miss faithful wishing they still had Houston Nutt on their side, and Mizzou playing SEC copycat by facing Arizona State. Been there, done that.

There will be a thread specific to the Georgia game opened later today, as well as additional threads that will be posted as the need arises. Please pay attention to, and play nicely with, your friendly neighborhood moderators, who are here to help. Buckle your seatbelts, keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle, and get ready to ride. Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.
