It is with a level of pleasure ordinarily reserved for such life-altering events as the birth of one’s first-born child that I bring you this week’s update of the Mark Richt Victory Watch.
Earlier today, Mark Richt carded his 113th career triumph, leaving him 88 wins shy of tying Vince Dooley’s school record and increasing dramatically the probability that he will remain on the Sanford Stadium sideline long enough to match that mark.
With a 113-39 record and a .743 career winning percentage 152 games into his career with the Georgia Bulldogs, Mark Richt remains the most successful head football coach in school history by a wide margin. With the same number of games under their respective belts, Wally Butts was 100-45-7 (.681) following a 1952 loss to Georgia Tech and Vince Dooley was 102-45-5 (.688) after a 1977 win over Vanderbilt.
By the way, as a former Bulldog player with an 0-2 ledger against his alma mater, is Will Muschamp now on the hot seat? I’m just asking.
Go ‘Dawgs!
