Let me begin by inviting each and every one of you to join us at 6:30pm Saturday at The Blind Pig Tavern on Baldwin Street in Athens for the 3rd Annual Dawgsports Sacrificial Goat Roast. As you might imagine, we'll be watching the Georgia Bulldogs take on the fierce and mighty Kentucky Wildcats. As we slowly lose interest, our attention will turn instead to watching Kyle pace around the room, enjoying a brew or two, and generally getting a bit rowdy and raucous as the evening goes on. By all means, drop in for a good time.
Prior to and following the sacrificing, there are several games of interest throughout the weekend. For instance, on Thursday night, you might be interested in watching the offense of the Oregon Ducks play pinball around the defense of the Arizona St. Sun Devils. As if that wasn't enough to wet your whistle, you can then tune in on Friday night for what is sure to be a thrillingly futile matchup between the Syracuse Orange and the Connecticut Huskies.
In the early slot on Saturday, you'll be treated to a potential beatdown as the LSU Tigers give the Texas A&M Aggies a taste of what the SEC West is really about. If that doesn't do it for you, the ESPN programming family continues to bring you the lamest possible lineup with Big 10 "action" between the Ohio St. Buckeyes and the Purdue Boilermakers as well as the Minnesota Golden Gophers epic faceoff against the Wisconsin Badgers. If football just isn't your thing, that's okay too because the Auburn Tigers and Vanderbilt Commodores will be playing a game that is decidedly not football on the SEC Network.
The choices get a little slim in the 3:00/3:30 block. However, if you're up for a little comedic fare, you do have the amazing opportunity to watch the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Boston College Eagles. Hell, Tech might even win one for a change... which is kinda sad for BC if you think about it. I'll assume none of you have any interest in watching the BYU Cougars and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish... I know I don't. Ultimately, I know you'll all be rooting for the South Carolina Gamecocks to wet the bed while simultaneously refusing to root for a Florida Gators win.
While the Goat Roast is in full party mode, you can occasionally switch over to see the Alabama Crimson Tide destroy Precious and the Tennessee Volunteers or check out what is likely to be a high scoring affair between the Kansas St. Wildcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers. I suppose you could also take a look at the ACC snoozefest between the Florida St. Seminoles and the Miami Hurricanes.
That's it for this week. Again, join us at Blind Pig Tavern Saturday night at 6:30 for food, fun, and camaraderie... there may also be dead goats.
Enjoy! And GOOOO DAWGS!!!
