It’s been a short week, so it’s slightly shocking that the weekend is almost upon us already, but there’s a lot of ground to cover before you get out of the office this afternoon, so grab a cup of coffee and hang on, because I’m going to get you up to speed pretty quickly here:
- Remember my plan for resolving the basketball scheduling issue? Well, Chris Dobbertean apparently likes it:
Our Georgia Bulldog blog, Dawg Sports, has a plan for an 18-game schedule that keeps the divisions, while changing tournament seeding to a straight 1 through 12 format. I happen to like this plan because it implements the permanent cross-division rival setup used in football. Basically, this is the format the Big 12 used for a 16-game schedule, that is, use the divisions for scheduling, but use a single table to determine the standings.
However, some folks aren’t so sure that the current plan to do away with the divisions will help the SEC land more teams in the NCAA Tournament. - Twitter has been an active place of late, as our look at Georgia-themed vehicles prompted this reply and my friend Josh’s Creighton preview elicited a favorable response from Nebraska Furniture Mart. The morning’s best news on Twitter, though, comes to us from Aaron Murray, who recently wrote:
Last day in Tampa before heading to Athens for the best 7 months of my life!
- That just leaves us with a few quick hits, most of which you knew already: Washaun Ealey is transferring to Jacksonville State, ESPN has selected a less than optimal start time for the South Carolina game, the Georgia men’s golf team has advanced to match play, and, oh, yeah, the Diamond Dogs take on the Bluejays at 4:00 this afternoon.
You’re now up to date. Enjoy the rest of your workday, and your weekend.
Go ‘Dawgs!
