The third-seeded Georgia women’s tennis team made short work of No. 6 seed Arkansas, notching a 4-0 victory over the Razorbacks at the SEC ladies’ tournament in Knoxville.
The Bulldogs, ranked ninth nationally, claimed the doubles point from the 21st-ranked Hogs with an 8-3 win by Alex Anghelescu and Maho Kowase, followed by an 8-5 triumph by the tandem of Nadja Gilchrist and Lilly Kimbell. Cameron Ellis gave the Red and Black a 2-0 advantage by notching a 6-2, 6-0 singles victory over Jade Frampton. Kowase delivered a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in her match with Stephanie Roy, setting the stage for Anghelescu to clinch the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Athenians will take on the winner of the ongoing clash between tenth-seeded Kentucky and second-seeded Tennessee.
