The facsimiles are flying fast and furious for the Red and Black on national signing day. In order to keep you abreast of developments in handy tabular form, here is a current list ("current" being defined by the time stamp at the top of this posting, although I will update the list later in the day) of Georgia signees. The hay, as they say, largely is in the barn; as of this (initial) writing, there have been no pleasant surprises, but no nasty ones, either, and signed letters of intent from all but seven of the Bulldogs’ 23 commitments have made their way to Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall. We’re having a good day, folks; it just remains to be seen if it ends up being a great one.
UPDATE (Approx. 11:30 a.m.): Georgia picks up Kent Turene, leaving two major uncommitted prospects left on the board. Isaiah Crowell will announce at 1:30, and John Jenkins will keep us in suspense until this weekend. In the meantime, signed letters of intent have been received from 18 of 23 verbal commitments. I’m out of pocket for now, but I’ll be back with updates (including more detail on Nick Marshall) this afternoon. Until then, keep the conversation going in the morning comment thread.
UPDATE (Approx. 1:15 p.m.): We’re still awaiting Crowell’s announcement, obviously, but, in the meantime, the class we thought we had coming in has held together nicely. All 23 of the verbal commitments with whom the Bulldogs began the day have sent signed letters of intent to the Classic City, and, of the five uncommitted prospects being pursued by the Red and Black, one of the three who have since declared their intentions went with Georgia. In about 15 minutes, we’ll find out whether Crowell puts the icing on the cake. Be sure to join in the fun in the afternoon open comment thread.
UPDATE (Approx. 1:35 p.m.): We got Crowell! Are we done for the day, or is there a surprise signee coming before sundown? (That’s not a rhetorical question or a tease; I’m actually asking.)
Go ‘Dawgs!
