Georgia Bulldogs End Fall Men's Golf Schedule With Win

After a fast start on Sunday and a sluggish second round on Monday, the Georgia men’s golf team finished strong on Tuesday to win the Outerbanks Collegiate Invitational. Though two of his teammates also carded top-ten scores, the man of the hour unquestionably was Albany’s own T.J. Mitchell, whose five-under 67 on the tournament’s last loop left him in first place in the field with an overall 15-under 201. Mitchell’s 14 birdies and three eagles enabled him to tie the second-lowest tourney tally in school history.

By virtue of Mitchell’s stellar effort, the Red and Black registered a four-shot victory over Liberty, firing a 12-under 276 for the round to complete a 30-under effort for the invitational and conclude the Bulldog linksters’ fall schedule in triumph. The Athenian men will return to action in San Juan’s Puerto Rico Shootout, beginning February 19.
