I woke up early and couldn’t get back to sleep, which makes this as good a time as any to get you caught up on some other Georgia sports you might not follow that closely:
- The Bulldog swimming and diving teams host Texas today, pitting ranked squads on both sides of the gender divide. The 11th-ranked Georgia men hope to upend the top-ranked Longhorns, while the second-ranked Red and Black ladies will put their 6-0 season record on the line against the No. 3 Texas women. The action begins at 11:00 this morning in the Gabrielsen Natatorium. It’s worth going, if for no other reasons than that admission is free and you get an excuse to use the word "natatorium."
- If water sports aren’t your thing, you still have the opportunity to see quality Bulldog athletes competing in Athens this weekend at no cost to you by taking in the Georgia Invitational. On Friday, the Red and Black women’s tennis team registered eight wins for a perfect start to the tourney. The Georgia men’s tennis team, meanwhile, won six of seven matches yesterday to start the SEC Indoors in Knoxville.
- In case you haven’t noticed, Andy Landers has his Lady Dogs back in contention. The Georgia women’s basketball program secured the 800th victory in its history while in the process of carding wins against a pair of top 20 foes in Arkansas and Kentucky. The Gator gals come calling in Stegeman Coliseum tomorrow afternoon.
Today’s cumulative women’s gymnastics/men’s basketball/NFL playoffs comment thread is scheduled to open at 2:00 this afternoon.
