My source tells me we haven't been given a deadline yet, but we will make a decision by the end of next week. We can't have an official Board of Regents meeting without posting the meeting 72 hours ahead of time. The Board will have decided what they are going to decide by Tuesday, and it will be officially announced by Friday.

The above assessment comes from a longtime family friend, native Texan, and Texas A&M alum with longstanding ties to the institution in College Station. Evidently, Mike Slive's reported presence there today was for the purpose of reassuring board members that they should not opt for the Pac-16 merely out of fear that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. With Larry Scott hand-delivering invitations to the Big 12 South (sans Baylor), the SEC commissioner was there to make it clear that the Southeastern Conference is one of the Aggies' options. The more I read and the more I hear, the more convinced I become that Texas A&M will become the thirteenth member of the SEC within a week. Go 'Dawgs!
