While the worst season in Georgia baseball history ended with a loss on Saturday, the Red and Black have not ceased playing sports involving a bat, a ball, and a glove, for the Bulldog women’s softball team took down Radford to advance to a third straight NCAA super regional, proving once again that you can’t spell "super regional" without U-G-A.
Georgia improved to 46-11 with a thirteen-hit outburst as starter Sarah McCloud went six innings, striking out seven and surrendering a lone earned run. At the plate, the Red and Black were led by Alisa Goler (2 for 3, 1 RBI), Brianna Hesson (2 for 4, 2 RBI), Ashley Pauly (2 for 4), Ashley Razey (2 for 4, 1 RBI), and Megan Wiggins (3 for 4, 3 RIWWB).
Up next for the winners of the Athens regional is a best-of-three super-regional series with Columbus regional champion California. The NCAA Women’s College World Series bracket may be found here. (Hat tip: California Golden Blogs.)
