A Damned Good Dawg Hangs Up The Cleats.

In case you missed it over the weekend, David Greene announced that he's decided to leave the NFL in order to pursue opportunities outside of football. Greene was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2005. He also did stints with the  New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and Indianapolis Colts, but in four years never actually made it on the field in a regular season game.

It is however interesting to note that Greene served as quarterback of last resort behind some of the better quarterbacks in football: Matt Hasselback, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Oh yeah, and Brodie Croyle. Dear Lord, let's not go forgetting Brodie Croyle.

I think this also means that some day soon David Greene will be the most sought after coaching talent in Gwinnett County Midget football ever. Pray that his kid and David Pollock's don't get drafted by the same team. You'll never hear the end of it.

At any rate, our hats are off to a guy who proved that a rocket arm and epic foot speed are no match for a gymrat's work ethic and the knowledge of when not to thread the needle. Until later, please accept this as our David Greene retirement salute:

Wherever Justin Miller is today, take heart in the fact that he's still wearing flame-retardent underwear. Because you don't get burned like that and forget it quickly. Back tonight with recruiting coverage of the less than creepy variety. Until then . . .

Go 'Dawgs!!!
