There is a new No. 1 team in the land, at least according to the latest BlogPoll. The blogosphere resoundingly anointed Texas Tech as the top team in the land. The Red Raiders’ 52 first-place votes allowed them to displace No. 2 Alabama (with 20 first-place votes) following wins over No. 3 Texas and No. 10 Oklahoma State.

One first-place vote went to No. 4 Florida and Georgia held steady at No. 13. Mercifully, my ballot did not place among the top five in any of the extracurricular categories. However, since the Bulldogs have an open date after facing Auburn, I should have adequate time within which to distinguish myself in next week’s poll.

A similar switch occurred atop the latest S.E.C. Power Poll, where the Gators received eight first-place votes to the Crimson Tide’s six, taking over the top spot from undefeated ‘Bama. The ‘Dawgs remain entrenched at No. 3 in the league, although few points separate the Red and Black from L.S.U.

Go ‘Dawgs! Auburna delenda est!
