The Associated Press preseason sportswriters' poll has been released and the 'Dawgs are ranked 13th. The Red and Black occupy the same position in the preseason coaches' poll. Will it prove to be a lucky No. 13? (Sorry. I couldn't resist.)
Southern California, of course, is a near-unanimous No. 1, having received 62 of 65 first-place votes. L.S.U. follows at No. 2 and West Virginia, Texas, and Michigan also landed in the top five.
Other entrants of interest to Bulldog Nation are No. 6 Florida, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 18 Auburn, and No. 21 Arkansas.
How, you may ask, do the sportswriters who vote in the A.P. poll make their selections? In his book Bowls, Polls & Tattered Souls (which recently was reviewed here at SB Nation by Corn Blight), our old friend Stewart Mandel offered some insights into his ballot-casting procedure, which met with a retort from Senator Blutarsky.
You already know how I go about casting my BlogPoll ballot.
Go 'Dawgs!
