The real world has savagely intervened today, preventing me from posting anything of substance. But I did have a couple of random thoughts worthy of exploring.
For one, I keep scratching my head at the TV/print previews wringing their hands over the loss of Paul Oliver. It occurs to me that Asher Allen, Prince Miller, RaMarcus Brown, Thomas Flowers and Donovan Baldwin have more than enough experience to do the job. In fact, many of these same pigskin prognosticators were opining last year about what a disappointment PO had been. Strange.
I also watched the replay of the 2006 Arkansas/South Carolina game on ESPNU this weekend. I was reminded that Darren McFadden is in fact that good. But I was also reminded that it doesn't matter how many starters you have returning on your defense when none of them can stop a more physical offense. Or tackle. I'm talking to you, Mr. Spurrier.
Finally, I saw in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Matt Stafford wants to play golf with Will Farrell and Jessica Simpson. I can understand the choice of Jessica Simpson, but labelling Will Ferrell "hilarious" really makes me doubt his decision-making skills. I'm just saying.
I'll be back with something meatier tomorrow. Until then . . .
Go Dawgs!!!
