Wake Coach Skip Prosser Dead at 56

It is with deep sadness that I report that Wake Forest University basketball coach Skip Prosser has died in Winston-Salem at the age of 56. Prosser appears to have collapsed suddenly while jogging on campus.

Prosser served at Wake Forest for the past six seasons, where he amassed a 126-68 record in the rough and tumble ACC, a feat that not a lot of coaches could duplicate. The past couple of years have been rough on the Deacs (they lost to us last year, which even I have to admit is not a "quality loss" for any ACC power). However Prosser was in the midst of putting together one of the nation's best signing classes for 2008, headlined by Rome center Tony Woods and Norcross forward Al-Farouq Aminu.

What's more, I don't think I've ever heard, read or seen anyone indicate that Prosser was anything but a consummate professional and a nice guy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Prosser family and the Wake Forest community in this time of great loss.
