My thanks go out to Conquest Chronicles' Paragon SC for calling my attention to a Sports Illustrated report that Larry Munson will broadcast only home games for the Red and Black this fall.
The Associated Press report quotes Munson as saying the following:
Vince Dooley opined that, "[w]hen the time comes to [go] to Tuscaloosa or Knoxville, . . . I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up there." Nevertheless, the plan evidently is for Scott Howard, a 14-year veteran of the Bulldog broadcast booth as Munson's color commentator, to take over the play by play responsibilities for Georgia's outings away from Athens.
There has been no official announcement from the athletic association, signaling that the door remains open for Munson to change his mind. A backup color analyst has not yet been selected, although Buck Belue, Jeff Dantzler, and Neil Williamson are considered likely possibilities to join Howard in the booth.
In addition to the seven scheduled home dates Munson plans to work, the Bulldogs will face Alabama at Tuscaloosa on September 22, Tennessee at Knoxville on October 6, Vanderbilt at Nashville on October 13, Florida at Jacksonville on October 27, and Georgia Tech at Atlanta on November 24.
Go 'Dawgs!
