You may file this under the heading of "completely unrelated," but I learned from Jason Pye that the Journal-Constitution made the profoundly good decision to hire Monroe Roark to cover Henry County for the Atlanta paper.
Monroe has anchored the local Henry County newscast on Southern Crescent Broadcasting, which was home to "The Dawg Show" from 1999 to 2004.
Billy Bob Thornton will play Monroe Roark in the movie.
I don't know Monroe that well personally, but my "Dawg Show" co-host, Travis Rice, and I sat with him at the 2004 S.C.B. Christmas party, at which he spoke highly of our weekly football broadcast out of all proportion to its merit.
So, anyway, Monroe Roark is writing about Henry County for the Journal-Constitution now, so keep an eye out for his work.
