No Word Yet On the Other 117 Teams That Didn't Win the Rose Bowl

This just in:  Pete Carroll, a laid-back guy who feels at home in Southern California, does a better job of containing his negative emotions than Joe Paterno, a crotchety old man who spends his winters in blustery Pennsylvania.

That wouldn't be news to most folks, but to E.S.P.N.'s Ivan Maisel, it is cause for another lofty paean to the bloodied but unbowed losers of the national championship game.

The lead, which Maisel buried, appears in the last two single-sentence paragraphs of the article, if you can stand to make it that far.

No word yet from the Worldwide Leader in Sports on the emotional state of the Texas Longhorns in Austin, but, thankfully, Burnt Orange Nation is available to provide coverage of the team that, y'know, won the national championship.

I have nothing against U.S.C., but, come on, E.S.P.N.  It's time to let it go and admit who finished No. 1.

Go 'Dawgs!
