The Diamond Dogs' return to S.E.C. play on Friday proved unsuccessful as Georgia fell to Ole Miss at Foley Field.
The Rebels got on the board first, taking a 4-0 lead in the early going. Two Bulldog home runs in the sixth inning tied the contest, but Mississippi broke the deadlock with an R.B.I. double in the eighth frame to give the visiting squad from the Western Division a 6-4 victory in Athens.
The Rebs improve to 15-11 while the Red and Black drop to 18-7. Both squads have losing ledgers in league play, with Georgia holding a slight advantage (3-4) over Ole Miss (2-5).
The two teams are slated to meet again at 4:00 on Saturday afternoon.
