The Weekend Weblogger Challenge

It's Thursday here at Dawg Sports, and you know what that means . . . no, we're not going to have a special guest.  That's Tuesday on "The Mickey Mouse Club."  Get your head in the game, people.

No, we're talking about The Weekly Weblogger Challenge, in which I throw out a random list of people, places, and events, which my fellow members of the intercollegiate athletics blogosphere are asked to work into their postings over the course of the ensuing week.

This week's challenge drew a lone response from Hey Jenny Slater's Doug Gillett, but what this week's challenge lacked in quantity, it more than made up for in quality, as Doug blew the roof off the dump with his tour de force of a response.

The dearth of other responses led me to believe that MGoBlog's Brian was right when he advised me that perhaps a Weekly Weblogger Challenge was a bit too frequent.  Accordingly, I will be making some changes to the format of the contest, commencing with the current edition.

In the future, I will be trying some different things with the, er, Periodic Weblogger Challenge, possibly including a challenge to be carried out in the diaries available on the right-hand side of your computer screen or a double secret challenge to be disseminated privately to the participants and revealed only after the respondents have dropped the clues on their weblogs.

This time, though, we're going to have a little fun with Orson Swindle and Stranko Montana, the fine fellows from Every Day Should Be Saturday, which is quite simply the gold standard of college football comedy weblogging.

Orson and Stranko will be going out of town for the weekend, taking a hunting and fishing (read:  alligator-poaching and moonshine-drinking) trip into the swamps of South Florida and leaving their weblog unattended while they're out of town.

Orson's and Stranko's weekend tour guide.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to leave an erudite comment (with emphasis on the erudition) for Orson and Stranko following their "Gone Fishin'" posting linked to above, in which you wax eloquent upon matters philosophical while making certain to incorporate the names on the following list:

The Weekend Weblogger Challenge

Ned Beatty
Harry Crews
Ponce de Leon
Project Mercury
Howard Schnellenberger

Be sure to link to your E.D.S.B.S. comment in the comments below and remember . . . even though they're Gator fans, Orson and Stranko are good guys, so be sure to leave them remarks that are respectful and gracious in their absence.

We want them to have a warm welcome awaiting them upon their return on Monday.  Also, I don't want to give them any excuses for roughing me up at the tailgate before the G-Day game a month from now.

Go 'Dawgs!
