Tennessee 89, Georgia 79

To my chagrin, but to no one's surprise, I must continue the theme of "you lose some" by reporting on last night's loss by the Lady Dogs in the S.E.C. women's basketball tournament.

Despite a valiant effort, No. 12 Georgia came up short against No. 8 Tennessee in the conference tourney semifinals.  The Lady Vols' dominance of the Bulldogs continued.

The game remained tight for much of the contest before U.T. pulled away at the end.  Tennessee led by two at the break and Georgia took the lead early in the second half.  Late in the competition, the Lady Dogs trailed by four, but the Volunteers widened the gap with an 8-0 run.

Tennessee won by 10 in the end, setting up a tournament title game between the Lady Vols and L.S.U. for the third time in the last four seasons.  Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, of course, but it is worth noting that Georgia and Tennessee played the most competitive game of the first three days of the women's basketball tournament.
