Hear Them Roar

On Friday evening, Georgia's two most accomplished women's sports teams emerged victorious from important competitions.

The No. 1-ranked gymnastics team completed its conference schedule with a win over No. 19 Kentucky.

The Gym Dogs now boast a 13-0 ledger, have gone undefeated in S.E.C. play for the seventh time in the last 10 years, and will head to Salt Lake City on Monday for Georgia's first dual meet at No. 3 Utah since 1991.

In the semifinals of the S.E.C. basketball tournament, the Lady Dogs improved their record for the season to 21-7, beating 23rd-ranked Vanderbilt, 69-47, in North Little Rock, Ark.

The Georgia female hoopsters, who came into the game averaging 81 points per contest, were led by Sherill Baker's 27-point effort and the Red and Black's defense held the Commodores to 33 per cent shooting from the field.

The Lady Dogs will take on eighth-ranked Tennessee in tonight's semifinal matchup.  The Lady Vols defeated Georgia twice during the regular season.
