Georgia Baseball Preview: Alabama

The Diamond Dogs commence S.E.C. play tonight by hosting the Alabama Crimson Tide at Foley Field.  The first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Red and Black (13-2) welcome a 'Bama squad sporting a 14-6 ledger and a team E.R.A. of 2.50.  Georgia's pitching staff, which boasts a 3.27 earned run average, has put together a pair of shutouts in the Bulldogs' last trio of outings.  Junior Brooks Brown is expected to take the mound for Georgia this evening.

Alabama was swept by sixth-ranked Nebraska in Lincoln last weekend, dropping three straight decisions, including one in extra innings.  The Red Elephants rebounded with a win over Southern Miss, putting up 13 runs on a top 20 opponent in Tuscaloosa.

The Diamond Dogs' offensive attack is beginning to hit its stride.  Georgia has scored at least 11 runs in six of its last seven games while raising the Red and Black's team batting average from .265 to .329 in the process.

The baseball Bulldogs are off to their best start since 1992 and their 12-0 mark in the Classic City represents the best start in Foley Field history.  If you're going to be in Athens tonight, head over to the ball park to cheer on the Diamond Dogs as they begin Southeastern Conference competition.

Go 'Dawgs!
