#Mizzou D-tackle Sheldon Richardson on Georgia: "It's like watching Big Ten football. It's old man football."

Tough talk from a player for a team the Big Ten rejected. How 'bout if you actually play an SEC football game before you start ragging on charter members of the league, all right, Sheldon? You're the Vietnamese boat people of the conference; we rescued you from oblivion. Show a little respect until you actually win something . . . something like a game against a Division I-A opponent, O.K.? Go 'Dawgs!

I have come to the opinion that we give Georgia entirely too much crap. We’ve played Georgia more than we’ve played Ole Miss, Kentucky, or Florida, not to mention our brothers from 1992 and 2012. We have a lower winning percentage and lower average point differential against Georgia (58.46%, 4.4 delta) than any SEC team not named Missouri (33.33%, -6.67 delta), the Auburnite, or Tennessee, and Herschel was only there for 3 of those 65 games. You’ll notice that a single point separates the deltas of Tennessee, the Auburnite and Georgia, and then there is a jump of 2.46 to LSU, then another 1.82 to Arkansas, and so on. Georgia has been pretty competitive with us for a long time.

Some much-appreciated respect for Georgia from Roll 'Bama Roll. I'm pretty sure Herschel never played against Alabama, but that's a minor point. The hat tip from our fellow Auburn-hating brethren is appreciated. Go 'Dawgs!

He's a great coach, he's the best thing that's happened to this program since Vince Dooley. We've just gotta go out there and play ball this year. We've still got goals we want to achieve. We want to go to the SEC, I mean we went last year but we want to win. We want to go to Miami, for the national championship.

At least at this point in time, a nine-game football schedule has little support among the membership for myriad reasons, with the ADs at Georgia and Tennessee being the lone known exceptions.

In Nashville today, seven hours of meetings produced no decision by the SEC athletic directors on an eight- or nine-game league schedule for 2013, but Greg McGarity appears open to the idea, in order to preserve the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. Go 'Dawgs!

2012 #SEC football conference schedule will be released tomorrow (Wed.) at 9 am CT (10 am ET). Catch it on www.secdigitalnetwork.com.

The SEC will announce the 2012 football schedule at 10:00 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday. Could this take a little longer? Go 'Dawgs!

It is all but official, based on talking to someone with knowledge of the schedule talks, that Georgia will not play Alabama next year. A trip to Missouri early in the season (probably Sept. 8, the second week) will replace the previously-scheduled trip to South Carolina, which will be moved to midseason (probably Oct. 5, the sixth week). And it's not expected that much if anything will change with the rest of Georgia's original 2012 schedule. The four non-conference games are expected to stay where they were.

Working through final stages of 2012 #SEC football schedule. We'll release once it's complete, but not before Christmas. #HappyHolidays

Official word out of Birmingham says the 2012 SEC schedule will not be released before Christmas. Well, dang. I thought the "#HappyHolidays" hashtag was a nice touch, though I think a "#ScrewYou" hashtag would have been less disingenuous. Go 'Dawgs!

The 2012 SEC schedule is not complete but should be announced soon, athletics director Eric Hyman said. Calling 2012 "a transition year," Hyman predicted the juggling prompted by the addition of Texas A&M and Missouri to the league will upset some fans.

The 2012 SEC schedule still has not been released, but it's coming soon, and South Carolina's athletic director says some fans will be "upset" by the changes. Does this mean the rumor that Georgia will open against Missouri and play the Gamecocks in October is true? I have no idea, but stay tuned. Go 'Dawgs!

[Arkansas athletic director Jeff] Long was optimistic the issue can be resolved shortly after the SEC schedule is out. "Hopefully it will all come together almost at the same time," Long said. He originally believed the SEC schedule would be released by Christmas, but wasn’t as confident Tuesday.

McGarity said Thursday that a new model would be used for 2013 and beyond. It’s not known what that model will be, but it will not be a nine-game schedule, Bloom said. The SEC has repeatedly asserted it is not adding another conference game since expanding to include Missouri and Texas A&M.

The 2012 SEC schedule is due to be released early next week, and it appears pretty certain that the league will stick with an eight-game schedule at least for the next few seasons. For the short term, we appear to have dodged a bullet. For the long term, does this mean we're liable to be looking at an additional expansion, to 16 teams, within the next few years? Stay tuned. . . . Go 'Dawgs!
