Here is the first part of our "Rivals at 10" package, where we look at the overall top 25 schools in recruiting rankings in Rivals.com's 10 recruiting cycles (2002-11). . . .

The only school to rank in the top 10 each year has been Georgia. USC has been in the top 10 nine times and Florida State eight times.

How about that #Dawgs "Dream Team" Coach Mark Richt recruited? We finally kept our Georgia boys at home. Nice job Coach.

Uga workout sessions get started today, time to get to work

Crowell canceled a late visit to Auburn after attending a UGA basketball game.

Richt's recruiting policy is to go after players he knows will qualify, which means Georgia doesn't usually work to sign a guy who has junior college written all over him.

I also know that Richt has a strict rule against pulling scholarships from current players. Once you're a Bulldog, you're staying a Bulldog unless you decide on your own to leave or an injury forces you to stop playing. So if UGA only has 20 scholarships available for a specific recruiting class, Richt won't go out and sign 22 good players and then boot two unproductive ones off the current squad.

Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin was a Steve Addazio hire. The two worked together at Syracuse, and Austin said Addazio called him a few days before National Signing Day to gauge his interest in the job in case it came open. This means Meyer and Addazio knew George Edwards might be planning to skip town before signing day.

It's believed an agreement with Edwards has been in place for awhile. The announcement of his hiring came a day after the college signing day for high school recruits.

Georgia didn't end up impressing to the degree Bulldog fans wanted to. UGA lost out on some highly touted recruits, some to other SEC schools like Da'Rick Rogers to Tennessee. The final ranking was not as high as most wanted either, but there's a good reason for that. Georgia signed just 19 players, and a larger class with the same proportion of star ratings as those 19 would have resulted in a much higher ranking. On an average star basis, Mark Richt made out better than a lot of the teams ranked above him, so while it wasn't a blowout day, it wasn't a failure either.
