It's been quite the week for Pro Wrestling NOAH. Reports of Kenta Kobashi being fired for cost cutting reasons, top stars leaving the company in protest, capped off by Kobashi announcing his retirement at Sumo Hall due to a catalogue of injuries.

Magnus and Samoa Joe win the GHC Tag Team Championships in Tokyo, Japan

Over the weekend, Pro Wrestling NOAH held their biggest show of the year so far at Sumo Hall. Of most interest to North American fans was that TNA talent, namely Samoa Joe, Magnus and Christopher Daniels, were used in key matches on the undercard.

As reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mark "Bison" Smith has passed away at the age of 38. Bison Smith spent most of his career in Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan and the International Wrestling Association in Puerto Rico but also had a short run in 2009 for Ring of Honor. I had seen a small amount of his work -- all of it from NOAH -- but enjoyed what little I saw. There has been an enormous outpouring of grief and remembrance on Twitter from both his fans and his contemporaries since the tragic news broke. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans during this sad time.

Poopsworld: Noah holding out for $70 mil?

Doug Thonus via Poopsworld. I find it hard to believe that Noah will get $14 million a year under a new CBA, but I would feel better if he was signed before the start of the season.
