Why the Georgia Bulldogs' Champ Bailey Should Have Won the 1998 Heisman Trophy

The release of EA Sports NCAA Football '13 (featuring the new "Heisman Challenge") has caused Dawg Sports to reflect on history's most egregious Heisman Trophy snub, when the Georgia Bulldogs' Champ Bailey was denied the award in 1998.

Thursday Night College Football Open Comment Thread

It's time for Thursday night college football on ESPN! Come join in the fun of the game night open comment thread at Dawg Sports.

Heisman Trophy Voters are Two-Faced

Some Heisman Trophy voters are arguing that Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy should be taken back if the forthcoming NCAA pronouncement against Southern California declares him ineligible. The rationale for this, says one voter, is that "it's absolutely okay to charge every winner with upholding the honor of this award their entire lives." I have three words for the Heisman hypocrites: Orenthal James Simpson. Go 'Dawgs!

Evaluating My Preseason College Football Predictions

Dawg Sports made a lot of oddball predictions prior to the start of the 2009 college football season. Strangely enough, some of them came true.

This Is What I'm Saying . . .

We in the blogosphere carp and complain about this sort of thing on a weekly basis when it comes to voters in the AP, coaches', and Harris polls, so it's only right for Orson Swindle to point it out when Heisman Trophy voters do the same thing. Beat the Christmas rush; hate the Heisman Trophy now. Go 'Dawgs!

Bad News For 'Bama Fans: Mark Ingram Wins Heisman Trophy

Many Crimson Tide fans are celebrating tonight as Mark Ingram has brought home the school's first Heisman Trophy. Those same fans now are much more likely to be crying a week after New Year's Day, as Ingram now is at the center of a whirlwind media blitz that will include interviews, David Letterman top ten lists . . . and becoming motivational fodder for Will Muschamp's defense ("He took Colt's Heisman Trophy! Are you going to stand for that?!?! Boom!"). What Ingram won't be doing is that whole, you know, getting ready to play a football game thing. I mean, he's the Heisman Trophy winner; he just has to show up and he'll be great in the bowl game . . . right? My condolences go out to Alabama. Tonight, they won the battle, but it may cost them the war. Go 'Dawgs!

Thursday Night Dawg Bites: Charlie Strong Moves On, a Congressman Makes Georgia Proud, and Clay Travis Breaks a Table (Metaphorically)

Charlie Strong is the new head coach of the Louisville Cardinals, Clay Travis has mounted an overly enthusiastic defense of the Tennessee Volunteers, and Representative John Barrow represents Georgia well in Congress. Dawg Sports explains it all.
