Josh Brewer, an assistant men's and women's golf coach at Southern California, is taking over the Georgia women's golf program. Go 'Dawgs!
Coach Richt has his contract finalized with more performance driven bonuses and Mr McGarity has a contract through 2017. From georgiadogs.com. I hope this gives our AD a little wiggle room to feel he can start making the harder decisions now. Edit: I believe Coach Bobo's contract expires on June 30, and he has been on a continual on year renewal.
The cancellation fee for the 2013 and 2014 rivalry renewals just went up to $3,000,000. I'd say both athletic directors are pretty serious when they say these games are going to happen. Go 'Dawgs!
Irrespective of whether you still consider Clemson a rival, this is good news, as the alternative would be scheduling some nobody in the Tigers' place. (Hat tip: Dawg2011.) Go 'Dawgs!
Florida sources say the Gators are interested in preserving their yearly series with LSU. That feared 10-4 vote may be a 9-5 vote, or more likely even an 8-6 vote (since new Eastern Division member Missouri wants to play new Western Division member Texas A&M every autumn), which would mean skilled athletic directors Greg McGarity and Jeremy Foley only need to bring along two more votes. Stay tuned. . . . Go 'Dawgs!
Preserving the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry is his top priority, but, if need be, he is open to discussing a nine-game SEC schedule.

Welcome relief has finally been granted UGA by Nike, who will allow the Dawgs, among 5 other schools, to swing bats by companies other than Nike. Fisheriesdawg and I sat together in Omaha in 2008 and watched Nike lumber cost us a national championship. It's 4 seasons too late, but better late than never!
We had to walk a fine line there, though. Senator Blutarsky is probably right . . . maybe Greg McGarity's "law enforcement appreciation" efforts have paid off! Go 'Dawgs!
No, seriously. The New York Times says so, and everything. During the 2010-'11 school year, the Bulldogs claimed SEC championships in two sports and finished in the top five in nine others. Unfortunately, none of them was football. Still, having one of the top two overall athletics programs in the Southeastern Conference ain't bad . . . and, with any luck, having hired our athletic director from the No. 1 athletics program in the league will help us make the leap up from the runner-up spot. Go 'Dawgs!
As much as I hate to see our biggest historic gymnastics rival win a national championship, it probably is best for Georgia that the club did not grow any larger this year. Alabama edged UCLA for the honor; the Crimson Tide and the Bruins are two of the four teams to have captured NCAA gymnastics championships in the history of the sport. Georgia and Utah are the other two. Oklahoma and Nebraska finished third and fourth, respectively, and Florida finished fourth in its opening session, failing to advance to the Super Six. While the Gators' disappointing finish in their session likely provides cover for Jay Clark after Georgia's similar finish in the earlier preliminary heat, the Sooners' failure to make the grade probably increases the likelihood that Oklahoma's K.J. Kindler could be pried away from Norman, since her prospects for winning a national title in Athens would appear to be better. I just hope we don't hang onto Coach Clark a year too long and lose our chance of landing Coach Kindler when, as inevitably will occur, Greg McGarity must make a change. Go 'Dawgs!
