Truths, Whole Truths, and Advanced College Football Statistics: Bill Connelly Answers Questions About the Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs have improved dramatically, but how good are they? SB Nation college football statistics expert Bill Connelly sits for an interview with Dawg Sports in an effort to answer that question.

Too Much Information: Georgia Bulldogs v. Boise State Broncos

On Labor Day weekend, Atlanta will host the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and DragonCon. Dawg Sports breaks down the college football matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Boise State Broncos in terms of Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece, "Dune."

Random Thoughts on SEC Expansion from a Tired Georgia Bulldogs Fan Sitting in an Airport Far From Home

It has been a wild weekend for the SEC, as the Texas A&M Aggies moved the conference expansion conversation into high gear. T. Kyle King of Dawg Sports was in Las Vegas at the time, and he finally found the opportunity to offer some thoughts while sitting in the Phoenix airport.

Reversal of Fortune: Gene Bleymaier Becomes Latest Victim of Renewed Georgia Mojo

Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier will be fired five days following the Broncos' 2011 college football season opener against the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta's Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic. Is Bleymaier's downfall over an NCAA investigation the latest piece of evidence that the 'Dawgs have regained their positive mojo?

A driver who was pulled over on suspicion of DUI told deputies that he played football for the Gators and asked if that would affect his situation. It didn't, and the driver wasn't really a Gator.

A DUI suspect in Gainesville falsely claimed to be a Florida football player in the hope of securing leniency. Interestingly enough, when I was a student at the University, I was stopped for jaywalking in Athens. While the Clarke County officer wrote me a ticket, I told him I was the backup placekicker for the Bulldogs. The officer proceeded to arrest me for crossing the street on a suspended license, giving a false name because I told him my name was "Kyle" when Kyle is actually my middle name, and emerging from a sidewalk. (I kid, I kid . . . but it sure tells you something about the culture in Gainesville, doesn't it?) Go 'Dawgs!

July_2011

While, admittedly, our month-end total will be helped by the fact that I ticked off a Missouri message board, we had cleared the bar even before the offending posting saw the light of day. July 2011 has surpassed July 2010 in visits and page views, albeit only barely, though that was something of an achievement, since I went away for a week's vacation both months, and last July featured our athletic director getting arrested for DUI with a pair of red panties in his lap, which will tend to do wonders for site traffic. More to the point, July has featured more visits than any single calendar month since February, and more page views than any since January. MaconDawg and I want to extend our thanks to everyone, from regular commenters to occasional visitors to lurkers who read daily but do not join in the conversation, who makes all this possible, and worthwhile. Go 'Dawgs!

To What Extent is Mark Richt's Job Security Affected by Scandals at Rival Schools?

The consensus heading into the 2011 college football season is that Mark Richt is on the hot seat at Georgia, but could his job security be affected favorably by the scandals in which several of the Bulldogs' rivals presently find themselves embroiled?

Reports of Hines Ward's DUI Arrest Suggest the Former Georgia Bulldogs Star Is Innocent

Hines Ward, the Georgia Bulldogs standout, Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl MVP, and "Dancing with the Stars" champion, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI in the Atlanta area this weekend. He is legally entitled to the presumption of innocence, and the initial reports have convinced Dawg Sports that this presumption in Ward's favor is entirely appropriate.

It May Be Time to Consider Throwing a Virgin Into a Volcano

All right, as I mentioned earlier, I was out of pocket and on the road all last night and today, so I trust I may be forgiven for missing this. The fact that it was a misdemeanor suggests that we are not due for a forthcoming police report involving red panties and borderline attempted bribery, and the fact that it was a former player means the Bulldogs' streak without a current player arrest remains intact, but . . . damn. Just damn. Et tu, Hines? How long before the message boards begin asserting that Mark Richt's discipline is so lax, it's corrupting Ray Goff's players? Go 'Dawgs!
