When I was writing Fighting Like Cats and Dogs, the two hardest chapters to write while maintaining my objectivity were those covering the 1986 and 1987 contests, in which the Tigers exacted their revenge for Kevin Butler's 1984 field goal with a pair of David Treadwell game-winners.
While Rodney Williams's name does not have quite the traction with Georgia fans that Treadwell's does, he, too, was a large part of several key Clemson victories during those years. Respect for a rival program that competed with Georgia as an equal during the Bulldogs' heyday in the 1980s warrants our giving due credit to Williams, as well.
If memory serves, there were five or six guys named "Williams" who played in that game, which made writing about it particularly challenging.
