The UCF football team is scheduled to wear black jerseys and gold pants when the No. 25 Knights face Georgia in the Liberty Bowl Dec. 31. The Bulldogs have the option of either wearing red or white jerseys.

Central Florida is blacking out the Liberty Bowl. (Hat tip: Team Speed Kills.) I hope we go with the red jerseys instead of the white ones, but, as long as our focus is on playing football rather than on fiddling with the uniforms, I'm good, either way. Go 'Dawgs!

Perception is reality. Good football teams follow tradition and uniforms are part of that tradition. Quick example: What will Alabama, USC (So Cal), or Oklahoma wear each week? Yeah, you can bet your life that these teams don't go off the map with their fashion styles. Thus, it is important to establish a recognizable brand. Otherwise, it hurts my eyes (and my heart) to show up at the stadium on Saturday or turn on my television and see this crap.

I'd add Penn State to that list, as well, but this point about Clemson's Oregonesque array of color combinations also applies to Georgia's recent I-see-some-red-gear-and-I-want-to-paint-it-black infatuation. Go 'Dawgs!

Kind of a buzzkill -- but maybe when they finally do make the switch, they'll keep secondary coach Scott Lakatos's innovative new "stay within five yards of your guy and actually know where the ball is whilst doing so" coverage scheme, which, after five years of Willie Martinez "Widespread Panic Dancer" defenses in Athens probably looked like the black monolith at the beginning of "2001" to Georgia's beleaguered fan base. Also, the "black" team wore white jerseys, which is sad and adorable at the same time, because when is Georgia ever, ever going to break out those black jerseys again?

Holly Anderson on G-Day. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the Black team wears white jerseys on G-Day because (a) they're nominally the "visiting" team, and (b) wearing black jerseys for a 2:00 kickoff in Georgia in April is an invitation to heat stroke. (By the way, I'm pretty sure that, by failing to reply in a timely manner to Doug Gillett's text message on Saturday, I missed the chance to meet up with Holly, as well, which was too bad. Tailgating with Holly is every bit as much of a hoot as you think it is.) Go 'Dawgs!

Was the Georgia Bulldogs' one-point road loss to the surging South Carolina Gamecocks a moral victory, a near-upset, or a crushing disappointment? For Dawg Sports, it was the opportunity to channel...

Let the Big Dawg Eat, Write Books, Wear Red Jerseys, and Dance

Should Mark Richt allow the Georgia Bulldogs to dance on the sidelines? Dawg Sports says the head coach is correct to let the players enjoy themselves during the games.
